Buy Fertile Eggs - Mail Order

We're happy to provide our customers with fertile eggs when our girls are laying. For shipped orders we require a 12 egg minimum purchase and order multiples of 12. You can mix and match the eggs with any breed, but you must meet the 12 quantity minimum and multiples.

Our eggs are collected daily and shipped no more than 3 days after they're laid. Collected eggs are stored separately and properly to ensure freshness and improve viability.

We recommend purchasing twice as many eggs as you want chicks if you're hoping to get hens. Statistically, your hatch should yield 50% Males and 50% Females. We also recommend purchasing a few extra to increase your likelihood of hatching your ideal number of chicks. Although we're able to hatch at 80+%, most people are happy if they get 50%. The longer an egg waits to be incubated the less likely it is to develop a chick. The traveling and the handling that the eggs will endure before making it into an incubator will play a factor into their hatch rate. It's best to set your eggs as soon as you receive them. If you're not able to set them right away be sure to store your eggs in a cool location out of direct sunlight. Room temperature of stored eggs should be 60ºF.

We offer two shipping methods through the post office just as we do with day-old chicks: Priority and Priority Express. We always recommend Priority Express for a quicker delivery, but realize it can be more cost effective to ship standard Priority. Eggs will ship Monday through Wednesday so they're guaranteed to reach their destination before post offices close on Sunday.

Although we will guarantee your eggs arrive intact and ready for incubation, we cannot guarantee your hatch rate. There are multiple factors in the shipping of fertile eggs that are just simply out of our control. Even if the outside of an egg is completely intact and seemingly ok, handling by the post office can damage them enough that they do not hatch. The internal arrangements of chicken eggs are relatively delicate and can be disturbed enough that they do not hatch. Your incubation conditions are also beyond our control. Eggs will not develop chicks unless exact incubation conditions of temperature and humidity are met. Any cracked or broken eggs will receive a refund or in case of 50% or more eggs are damaged we will reship them provided we receive photos of damages within 48 hours of receiving.

**Please understand that not all eggs from each breed will be available at all times in any quantity you desire. Our girls need breaks too! Since we raise them naturally without any artificial lighting we see a dramatic decrease in egg production throughout these seasons. This does not mean eggs aren't available at these times - it only means we're not able to accommodate large orders of one breed at once. Please feel free to place your order. We will contact you as soon as possible to discuss your order and a time frame you can expect to receive your fertile eggs.**

Nik&Co Treats

Shortly after the retail sales of beef began on the farm, we quickly discovered that the market for some beef products such as the liver, heart, tongue and tail were not as popular. In order to keep product moving we invested in a large dehydrator that we sampled dehydrated products with our own dogs, Nike and CoPilot. With their approval, we started making the dehydrated products in bulk. Realizing our dogs couldn't eat it all on their own, we created Nik&Co.

Nike & CoPilot

Currently we offer both Dehydrated Beef Liver and Dehydrated Beef Heart along with Dehydrated Bananas and Dehydrated Sweet Potatoes. All of our products are simply, just that, dehydrated. We don't use any additives in our products so they're all natural and healthy for dogs.

You can purchase our dehydrated dog treat products here. All treats have been tested and approved by our very own Bernese Mountain Dog pups, Nike and CoPilot!

My wife and myself were on a day trip from Baltimore when we saw the famers market Saturday and we got 2 of your steaks. We have family coming from Fla. and NY in October and will be ordering more steaks for them." -Rod Everett

Wholesale: Deer Run Farm offers wholesale beef to families looking to save a few dollars and trips to the local grocery store. Wholesale orders are usually taken seasonally between August and May. We offer whole, half and quarter animals at a wholesale price of $3/lb per hanging weight. A quarter averages about 190lbs which works out to be about $570 not including the butcher's cut, wrap and freeze fees (estimated at $0.65/lb). A quarter typically has a take home weight of 130lbs. One can expect roughly 35 steaks (if cut to 3/4" thickness), 8 roasts (about 3lbs each) and 75+/- lbs of ground beef unless you opt for stew cubes also. To place a wholesale order, simply call or email us at 717-357-4521 or info@deerrunfarmmd.com.

Stop by our farm to visit our small store front and buy some beef! Store hours are Monday through Wednesday 9a-5p, Saturday and Sunday 10a-3p. Always call ahead - we have to run errands every once in awhile and would hate to miss you. If these hours don't work for you, call us! We're always happy to accommodate our customers!
